SXSW - Day 0.5

So after some craziness with getting my wristband situation sorted out, it was time to hit some parties. First stop was The Side Bar to see Roxy Epoxy & The Rebound http://www.myspace.com/roxyepoxy What would happen if you mixed Siouxsie Sioux, Chrissie Hynde, The Buzzcocks, and… oh, I dunno… Shiny Toy Guns? It might sound something like Roxy Epoxy’s new band. Formerly the frontwoman of the seminal punk/new wave band The Epoxies, Roxy’s new album BAND-AIDS ON BULLET HOLES gets released on March 10th via Metropolis Records. Then, thanks to my dear colleague Erika and our awesome friends at Magnum PR, we went to a party at the British Music Embassy and saw some really kick ass bands. Anyway, I’m back at my laptop now to get some stuff taken care of including posting some updates and then I head back out to see: Los Satin Dolls - http://www.myspace.com/lossatindolls The lead singer is one of my really good friends from Middle School. We met today in the registration line after 12 years but recognized each other right away, it’s been the highlight of the day so far. And then of course at 1AM I’m going to check out Fastball once again at Ace’s Lounge. The guys are sounding better than ever and Little White Lies is going to be a big comeback for them!
